Every day at preschool lunchtime we'd sit down and take turns writing our own original stories. One day, the kids asked me to make up a song about a gorilla and this is what happened.
One unexpected but funny outcome...In the chorus when I sing the ingredients, "Eggs, cream, sugar..." The kids thoughts I was just saying ice-cream incorrectly (eggs-cream!), and laughed and laughed.
Sing-along cookbook coming soon.
lyrics
Gorilla, gorilla
Had some vanilla
Ice cream on a cone
But lion was crying
Sobbing and a-sighing
Called him up on the phone
He said
"Gorilla, gorilla,
I wish I had vanilla
Ice cream to call my own."
"Well Lion, lion
There's no use cryin'
Over a little ice cream."
But the gorilla, gorilla,
Had a little spill
And said "Oh, I see what you mean."
"If you wanna come over
We'll make some more
Just bring me eggs, cream, sugar and vanilla beans."
Eggs, cream, sugar, and vanilla beans
Eggs, cream, sugar, and vanilla beans
Eggs, cream, sugar, and vanilla beans
'Cause that's what we need to make vanilla ice cream.
So now lion's rushing
Huffing and a-puffing
To get to the grocery
He walked through the door
Picked up a cart
And forgot the whole recipe
He said "Oh gee,
Wo is me.
Was it eggs, cream, sugar and a strawberry?
Eggs, cream, sugar, and strawberry
Eggs, cream, sugar, and strawberry
Eggs, cream, sugar, and strawberry
"Was that's what we need to make vanilla ice cream?
I just can't remember."
He went over to gorilla's house
Walked into the kitchen
Gorilla opened up the door and said
"Something's missing!"
I wanted eggs, cream, sugar, and vanilla beans
Eggs, cream, sugar, and vanilla beans
Eggs, cream, sugar, and vanilla beans
'Cause that's what we need to make vanilla ice cream.
So now lion's crying
Sobbing and a-sighing
"Gorilla, I feel so bad about it."
"Lion," said gorilla, "forget about vanilla.
You know, we can do without it.
We can make a brand new flavor today
With eggs, cream, sugar, and strawberry."
Eggs, cream, sugar, and strawberry
Eggs, cream, sugar, and strawberry
Eggs, cream, sugar, and strawberry
'Cause that's what we need to make strawberry ice cream?
So now lion's merry
Eating strawberry
Ice cream on a cone.
When from the other room
There came a little ring
It was tiger on the telephone
"Lion, it's me.
I want some strawberry.
Ice cream to call my own."
"Okay, Tiger. We can make some more ice cream. Just bring me Eggs, cheese, sugar, and mulberries. Got it?
See you soon."
